Thomas Elliott Toft Jr.
Thomas Elliott Toft Jr. died of cancer at his home in Woodland, California, Saturday September 6, 1997, at age 72. He lived in Yolo County for nine years.

Mr. Toft was born near Belmond, Iowa January 20, 1925 and lived there until volunteering for the military in 1944. Following his service in the United States Navy during World War II, he worked for twenty years at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company and Goodyear International. While with Goodyear, he and his family lived in Des Moines, Iowa; Minneapolis, Minnesota; Forest Park, Illinois; Akron, Ohio; Caracas, Venezuela; Brussels, Belgium; and Tokyo, Japan.

In 1968, he returned to Des Moines, Iowa and began employment at Iowa Methodist Medical Center. He worked there the next twenty years as Chief Financial Officer until his retirement in July 1988.

Preceding him in death were his mother, Blanche Ulstad Toft, his father Thomas Elias Toft, sister Betty Toft, and brother Donald Toft. Surviving are his wife, Mary Taylor Toft in Woodland, daughters Catherine Ann Toft and Nancee Lynn Toft in Davis, California, son Thomas Otha Toft in Saint Charles, Illinois, and son and daughter-in-law Charles Joseph Toft and Carolyn Cavanaugh Toft in Tempe, Arizona.

Also surviving are: sister Doris Nuehring and brother Clifford Toft in Belmond, Iowa, brother Roger Toft in Valley Springs, California, and brothers Robert, Jerry, and Everett Toft in Des Moines, Iowa.

No services will be held. Memorials can be sent to the American Cancer Society or a local Hospice.
